WHAT IS COMMUNITY COLLABORATION?
It started with SDOH.
The world has known for some time that social determinants of health have a huge impact on peoples' lives. Some estimates suggest that 86% of the factors that determine health outcomes originate outside hospitals and doctors offices.
Some of those barriers - like racism and income inequality - are systemic and institutional, and very hard to change.
But others can be changed. When healthcare and social service organizations team up, they can assess, understand, mitigate, and sometimes even eliminate the social factors that negatively impact health and improve one's quality of life. It's practical, it's constructive, and it's being done right now.
That's community collaboration. And it's changing the world.
ABOUT MICHAEL SATTLER
Michael Sattler has spent twenty years assembling integrated technology solutions and served most recently as Vice President / Operations for Activate Care, one of the country's most respected social determinants of health platforms. With a B.A. from Princeton and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College, Michael has founded seven technology and social impact companies over his career and developed hundreds of products, features, and cross-functional solutions. Since 2018 he has been instrumental in designing and deploying SDOH programs around the country.
